ENG vs SA Match Prediction 3rd ODI: England continued their abject form in ODI cricket, losing their fifth of the last six ODI series as they went down by five runs in the second ODI against South Africa at Lord’s.
With the win in the last-ball humdinger at Lord’s, following on from a dominant victory at Headingley, South Africa sealed the three-match ODI series. The Proteas have now recorded ODI series wins over Australia and England, both away from home, in the last three weeks.
England and South Africa have faced off in 73 ODI matches so far. Of these, England have a slender lead with 35 wins and have suffered 32 defeats, with five matches ending without a result and one game being a tied ODI.
With the series now decided, England are likely to give a rest to Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse. Ben Duckett has also looked gassed out, and he too could be rested from the third ODI. Sonny Baker, who had a disastrous debut in the first ODI, could get a game on Sunday.
Similarly for South Africa, Kwena Maphaka, who has been on the bench in the first two ODIs, may get a chance in the third ODI, and Lungi Ngidi could be rested. The Proteas are unlikely to push Kagiso Rabada for a return with the series already secured.

Like Headingley, the Rose Bowl has been on the sub-6-runs-per-over side in ODI cricket in the past decade. Since 2015, the average innings score in ODIs in Southampton is 286. While pacers get extra bounce and seam movement here with the new ball, spinners don’t get any assistance from the surface. This has been a chasing-friendly venue.
England is predicted to win the toss today.
Aiden Markram is predicted to score the most runs today.
Nandre Burger is predicted to take the most wickets today.
Aiden Markram is predicted to be the Man of the Match today.
