Dolphins’ Mike McDaniel Not Worrying About Job Security amid 0-2 Record

Amid an 0-2 start to the season for the Miami Dolphins, head coach Mike McDaniel is focused on what goes on on the field rather than what’s happening off the field.

After the Dolphins’ loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, McDaniel said he’s not worrying about potentially being on the hot seat.

“I think if I worry about my job security, I won’t be doing my job — and I think that inherently is against all things that I believe in,” he told reporters. “I’ve never felt entitled to this position and it’s very important for me to spend all my waking hours worrying about exactly how to do my job.

“I won’t spend one moment thinking about all the things that, whatever people want me to think about. [I’m] thinking about this team and the Buffalo Bills here, after I get done with this podium.”

McDaniel’s tenure in Miami started off well as he took the Dolphins to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, but he hasn’t found that kind of success recently.

Last year, Miami finished 8-9 as injuries took a toll on the team. Now having lost two games to start the year, it’s fair to wonder how much longer McDaniel will last as head coach.

For now, he’ll keep his focus on taking down the Buffalo Bills next week and flipping the momentum of the season.
