Deion Sanders Thinks Son Shilo Will Pursue Acting Career If NFL Plans Don’t Work out

Deion Sanders has an idea of what career path his son, Shilo, will take if things don’t work out in the NFL.

He said during Colorado’s coaches’ show on Thursday that he can see Shilo going into acting, adding that he almost went into acting as well.

“I was gonna go down that avenue once upon a time,” Sanders said (42:30 mark in video). “I think that’s the avenue that—or streaming like iShowsSpeed—that Shilo’s going to go down. Cause he has that gift, man. It’s a very attractive personality. It’s just fun. He’s a fun kid, man, and I’m proud of him right now.”

Shilo has already delved into the acting world a bit, as he portrayed his father in an episode of “BMF,” a crime drama on the Starz network, in May. While he didn’t have a major role in the show, it could be a start for him.

For now, he’ll focus on trying to find a spot on an NFL roster.

Shilo, who played at South Carolina, Jackson State and Colorado, wasn’t exactly a top prospect coming out of college. In his final season with the Buffaloes, the safety had a decent year, recording 67 tackles, a pair of pass deflections and a sack.

He was not selected in this year’s draft, but signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers afterwards.

Shilo stayed with the Bucs throughout the offseason and training camp, eventually getting some reps in the preseason, but Tampa Bay decided he wasn’t a fit and waived him in August. The decision from the Bucs also came after Shilo was ejected from a preseason game for throwing punches at Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson.

Though Shilo isn’t a hot commodity right now, a handful of teams will likely need a safety at some point this season, so he could have a few calls come his way.

If things don’t work out, Hollywood is always waiting.
