Backstage morale in WWE isnâ€t at an all-time high, but itâ€s far from the “miserable†days of the Vince McMahon era.
During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that the current environment is stable—even if PR headaches are making things uncomfortable. Wrestlers are still being forced to deal with fallout from controversial partnerships, lawsuits, and questionable talent decisions, but theyâ€re not spiraling the way many did during 2016–2022.
“It isnâ€t over the moon… But I donâ€t talk to people that are miserable… That was remarkably common from like 2016 to 2022.â€
Stars are reportedly frustrated about answering for company scandals, but Sapp noted he doesnâ€t ambush them at public appearances. Instead, he checks in privately when possible.
“Because I usually ask. I usually ask wrestlers things like, what do you think about Saudi? What do you think about the lawsuit? What do you think about this person working there? What do you think about them doing this with this person? I ask that privately because I donâ€t think that itâ€s fair to go to a goddamn food pantry or a Boys and Girls Club and shove a camera in peopleâ€s face and do that. I like to approach it with some respect.â€
While many prefer to speak off the record, the lack of private meltdowns is a big shift from how things used to be.
“Sometimes they donâ€t answer, sometimes they answer. But itâ€s on background or off the record… They donâ€t like having to field those, Iâ€m sure.â€
The “honeymoon phase†under Triple H may be fading, but WWEâ€s locker room still appears to be in a much healthier place than it was a few years ago.
WWE might be juggling lawsuits, controversy, and global deals that raise eyebrows—but behind the curtain, the talent isnâ€t cracking under pressure. The old days of talent quietly begging to be let go seem to be in the past, at least for now. As the PR storms keep rolling in, the real test will be whether WWEâ€s locker room unity holds or if old cracks start to show again.
