When John Cena announced his retirement tour, the promise was to deliver a memorable run to highlight his career and legacy before passing the torch.
A poorly executed heel run for The GOAT almost derailed that plan, but Cena was seemingly back on track after delivering a classic WWE Championship fight against Cody Rhodes to solidify his turn back to the light.
Brock Lesnar’s arrival threatened the entire plan as The Beast Incarnate is someone Cena has always struggled to beat.
That showed at Wrestlepalooza again. Cena looked outmatched and overwhelmed competing with Lesnar, who squashed him as definitively as their SummerSlam 2014 clash.
In the end, the GOAT was dominated, and the fans were left unsatisfied as the clock winds down on Cena’s career.
This will either lead to an unnecessary rematch or just leave Cena questioning what little he has left in his waning days in WWE.
Either way, little was accomplished, once again putting over Lesnar after Cena had defeated so many other big names that could have used the boost more, not to mention the fresh talent that still want a shot at The GOAT.
