Kris Statlander’s first defense of the AEW Women’s World Championship has been announced.
Tony Khan revealed on Tuesday that Statlander will defend against Mina Shirakawa on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
“After her All Out World Title win, Statlander said she wants be a fighting champ! On a winning streak + aiming to avenge Toni, Minaâ€s stepped up! Stat vs Mina TOMORROW!” Khan wrote on social media.
Statlander pinned Toni Storm in the four-way match at AEW All Out to win the title. She used a seatbelt pin to get the three-count, a move often used by Wheeler Yuta. Tony Khan brought up her using the move at the post-event presser, with Statlander responding:
“Well, Tony, heâ€s not the only one thatâ€s ever used the seatbelt pin. There have been some greats before him like Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor that have also maybe used that as a more signature thing.â€
“Maybe itâ€s not exactly Yuta that Iâ€m emulating,†she added.
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite is set for the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The updated lineup is below.
