New Japan Pro-Wrestling just dropped the bombshell—Wrestle Kingdom 20 is going to crown a double champion at the Tokyo Dome, and it doesnâ€t get more loaded than this.
Right after IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita retained his title against Hirooki Goto at Tanahashi Final Homecoming on November 2, it was confirmed the main event for January 4, 2026: Takeshita will face IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji in a winner-takes-all showdown.
This isnâ€t just about gold—itâ€s about dominance. Both titles will be on the line when these two top stars collide in the biggest match NJPW can deliver. Takeshita, whoâ€s been steamrolling through NJPWâ€s top names since his return from AEW, comes into the Tokyo Dome as the reigning world champ and undeniable workhorse. Tsuji, carrying the Global title with swagger and purpose, has been on a tear of his own—rising through the ranks with every brutal, crowd-popping performance.
Now theyâ€ll clash in a historic unification match that could redefine the companyâ€s future. Wrestle Kingdom is known for delivering dream matches—but this oneâ€s different. With two of the companyâ€s top titles on the line and two of its hungriest stars at the center, the Tokyo Dome crowd is in for a war that could shift the entire balance of NJPWâ€s power structure.
Is this Takeshitaâ€s era to solidify, or will Tsuji take the throne and walk out as the undisputed face of New Japan?
