Axar Patel: ICC ODI rankings: Axar Patel breaks into top-10 bowlers, Amit Mishra achieves career-best spot | New Zealand in India 2016 News
Axar Patel has become the highest placed India bowler in the latest ICC ODI rankings after breaking into the top-10 bowler’s list while legspinner Amit Mishra has vaulted 25 places to enter the top-20. NEW DELHI: Allrounder Axar Patel has become the highest placed India bowler in the latest ICC ODI rankings after breaking into the top-10 bowler’s list. Patel, who took four wickets in the recently concluded India-New Zealand ODI series, is ranked ninth while legspinner Amit Mishra has vaulted 25 places to enter the top-20 for the first time in his career. Mishra, with 15 wickets in the New Zealand series, was also adjudged as the man of the series, shares the 12th spot in the bowler’s rankings with South African Dale Steyn. The other India bowlers who have made progress in the bowling charts include paceman Umesh Yadav and youngster Jasprit Bumrah. Yadav’s eight wickets in the series have taken him to 35th spot while Bumrah has climbed up 29 rungs to secure career-best 57th position. New Zealand pacemen Trent Boult continues to lead the bowler’s rankings followed by West Indies’ Sunil Narine at second and South African Imran Tahir at third. While Indian bowlers have enjoyed a rise in their stocks, the case isn’t the same with their batsmen. India openers Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane have both fallen two places to be placed ninth and 20th respectively. Though Virat Kohli, the leading run-getter with 358 runs, continues to be the second best behind AB de Villiers, he has cut down the South African’s lead from 48 to 13 points. Besides, the MS Dhoni-led India have also reduced their three-point gap with New Zealand to just one point after winning the series 3-2 but remain unchanged at third and fourth spot respectively. Australia, with 118 points, continue to be the leading ODI team followed by South Africa. Source link
