IND Vs AUS Live: The Indian Cricket Team has been dismissed for 125 runs in the ongoing T20I against Australia. This came after a major top-order collapse, followed by a brilliant knock on a difficult pitch by Abhishek Sharma.
The second of five Australia vs India T20Is is currently underway, being played at the MCG in Melbourne, Australia. The first match was washed off due to rain. For this game, the home side won the toss and decided to bowl first.
The pair of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma came out to open the Indian batting. And while Sharma started attacking from the very first over, Gill struggled from the get-go, eventually getting out for five runs off 10 deliveries. Josh Hazlewood dismissed him.
This brought in wicketkeeper Sanju Samson to bat at No. 3, being pushed up the batting order for this match. However, he did not stay on the pitch long. He made only two out of four balls.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav came in at No.4 and made only a single run before becoming Hazelwoodâ€s second wicket. And then, in the same over, Tilak Varma got out for a duck.
Within five overs, the Indian Cricket Team’s score was 32/4. For this entire time, Abhishek had been carrying the scoreline, having made most of his teamâ€s runs. Axar Patel came in at No. 6, made just seven runs, and got out in the eighth over, leaving the score at 49/5.
Next up, an unlikely partnership, as Abhishek Sharma paired up with Harshit Rana, who was inexplicably sent in ahead of Shivam Dube at No. 7. The two men spent almost eight overs on the crease together. In this time, while Sharma reached the 50-run mark, Rana stayed firm on a challenging track, eventually getting out after making 35 runs in 33 deliveries.
After Rana was dismissed in the 16th over, the rest of the Indian batting order was not here to stay for long. After Dubeâ€s dismissal for four, and Kuldeep Yadav & Jasprit Bumrah getting out for ducks, Abhishek finally lost his wicket after making 68 off 37.
India was all out for 125 in 18.4 overs; 54.4% of these runs were made by Abhishek.
While Australia are the heavy favourites to win this match now, seeing how the Indian batting collapsed, that just might happen again.
