GBâ€s Anna Hursey will partner European No 1 Bernadette Szocs in the Womenâ€s Doubles at the WTT Star Contender London.
The eye-catching pairing reflects Hurseyâ€s growing stature in the world game, with the Welsh teenager in demand to partner some of the worldâ€s leading players.
First in the queue, it seems, is the 30-year-old Romanian Szocs (pictured above), currently ranked No 16 in the world and the reigning European Games Womenâ€s Singles champion.
She also won Womenâ€s Doubles silver alongside Sofia Polcanova of Austria at the World Championships in Doha earlier this year – the pair were beaten in the gold medal match by Chinaâ€s Wang Manyu & Kuai Man.
Director of Performance Development, Gavin Evans, said: “Big names are asking Anna to play with them, which reflects her growing profile – people are taking note of her achievements and what she can bring to potential partnerships.
“This is significant for the GB pathway as well, as not only can other athletes on the programme train with someone operating at that level, but they also can see what is possible if they really work for it.â€
Further doubles pairings involving British players, plus singles wildcards, will be revealed in the coming days.
