And the winner of BBC award is . . . Kevin Taylor!

September 17, 2025 | Paul Stimpson

Table tennis volunteer Kevin Taylor says he is “incredibly proud” to be one of the winners at the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Make A Difference Awards.

Held at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, the awards celebrated the incredible impact of individuals and groups who use physical activity to improve lives in their communities.

Kevin, Chair of Stratford TTC, won the Active Award.

BBC CWR covers Coventry and Warwickshire, the area where Kevin and his colleagues reach hundreds of people every week with a variety of sessions, including at Holy Trinity C of E Primary, Stratford-upon-Avon Primary and Croft primary Schools, as well as at the club.

Kevin, also a familiar face in fanzones at various Table Tennis England events including the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships, said: “I’m incredibly proud that I won the Active Award – a moment of huge significance not just for me, but for the sport of table tennis.

“To see the game we love recognised in this way is truly special, and it reflects the thousands of hours over the past six years dedicated to growing participation and creating opportunities across Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, and beyond.

“As I’ve often said, my mission has always been simple – to make sure every newcomer leaves the table having gained something, whether confidence, friendship, or joy.

“This award is for everyone who has contributed: those who have played, volunteered, supported, and helped us grow. I’m deeply grateful to each of you.

“And if this recognition inspires even one more person to pick up a bat and discover the joy of table tennis – then that’s the greatest win of all.”
