Amit Mishra Career Journey: Indian cricketer Amit Mishra recently announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on 4 September 2025. In an Interview with Press Trust of India (PTI), Mishra said, “Obviously, I am feeling a little low because you have done that one thing for such a long time, and obviously feel a little down while saying it goodbye.”. But there is an end to everything in life, so now it is the time to say bye-bye to cricket.”

Amit Mishra have played cricket for more than 25 years, playing domestically, in the IPL, and internationally. During his professional career, Mishra played 68 matches for India and took around 153 wickets. In his IPL career, he played for several different teams, including the Delhi Daredevils, the Deccan Chargers, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the Lucknow Super Giants.  In his domestic career, Mishra played for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy. Amit Mishra Career Journey: International Career

Amit Mishra made his debut while representing India in an International One-Day match against South Africa in 2003. In that match, Mishra bowled 5 overs and earned 1 wicket. Ever since then, Mishra has played approximately 36 ODI matches for the Indian Cricket Team and has earned approximately 64 wickets. He played his last ODI match against New Zealand in 2016, where he took a 5 wicket haul and was awarded the man of the match award.

Mishra debuted in test cricket in 2008, against Australia. In his debut test match, he picked up 7 wickets for 106 runs in both innings. Throughout his career in Test cricket, Mishra participated in approximately 22 Test matches and has picked up approximately 76 wickets in his Test career.

He made his T20 International cricket debut in 2010 in a match against Zimbabwe. Mishra’s T20i career wasn’t that big; he only played 10 matches in his entire career and was able to take around 16 wickets.

Amit Mishra Career Journey: IPL Career

Amit Mishra debuted in the IPL in 2008, playing for the Delhi Daredevils against the Rajasthan Royals. He has played for several different teams since then (the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Deccan Chargers, the Lucknow Super Giants, and the Delhi Daredevils). Mishra’s last appearance in the IPL was in 2024 for the Lucknow Super Giants, where he played only one game in the whole season, taking one wicket for 20 runs.

Amit Mishra’s IPL journey spanned over 17 years, during which he set a unique record as the only bowler to claim three hat-tricks in the tournament’s history. The first of those came back in 2008, when he was turning out for Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers. He took his second hat-trick playing for the Deccan Chargers against Kings XI Punjab in 2011. Mishra’s third and final hat-trick was in 2013, playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors.

Amit Mishra Career Journey: Domestic Career

Amit Mishra started his career with domestic cricket, where he debuted in 1999 playing for Haryana. He has played around 152 games in his first-class career and has 21 five-wicket hauls with 252 wickets in his domestic career.
