AEW Collision Results: Review, Grades, Card For August 30

Our AEW Collision results for tonight includes a big trios match, the TNT Champion in action, and Big Bill in singles action.

AEW Collision Card

The announced card is as follows:

• Big Bill vs. Juice Robinson
• Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa & Queen Aminata vs. Billie Starkz, Skye Blue, and Julia Hart
• Kyle Fletcher & Josh Alexander vs. Tomohiri Ishii and Kyle O’Reilly
• Hologram vs. Jay Lethal

AEW Collision Results

Singles Action to Start the Show

Daniel Garcia vs. Blake Christian

• Garcia takes the win here, much to the anger of Jon Moxley, who came down to try and cause trouble. Garcia ended things by locking in a guillotine choke to Christian, then dropping him down to the ground for the win.

Winner – Daniel Garcia

After the match, Garcia says he’s been after what Moxley has for years. He then challenged him to a match next week. Wheeler Yuta said to be careful what you wish for, and that Moxley accepts.

Grade: B+

A decently fun enough match, and the set up for Moxley and Garcia to get in the ring and duke it out is good enough for me.

Backstage, The Conglomeration is being interviewed. Roderick Strong is upset that Kyle O’Reilly is teaming up with Tomohiro Ishii tonight. O’Reilly says that Ishii saved the group many times, and it shouldn’t bother him at all. The trio then make their way down for our next match.

Kyle Fletcher & Josh Alexander vs. Kyle O’Reilly & Tomohiro Ishii

• Fletcher and Alexander come out on top here, pleasing Don Callis, who is ringside for commentary. The group wins after Fletcher trips up Ishii and then hits him with a low blow when the referee is distracted.

Winner – Kyle Fletcher & Josh Alexander

After the match, Roderick Strong leaves as O’Reilly checks on Ishii, who is still down from the low blow and loss.

Grade: C

A bit of a predictable finish with Don Callis around and the family going over. The tension between The Conglomeration is an interesting one, and will be fun to see how it plays out over the future.

Backstage, Jamie Hayter and Thekla are in an all-out brawl. The pair are going at it, and security tries to come and break it up. Thekla then does a splash on top of both the security and Hayter, requiring even more security to come running in and stopping things.

Also backstage, Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne are talking, with Sabian looking for Luchasaurus/Killswitch. The superstar shows up, and Sabian then blames him for the loss against Adam Copeland. Mother Wayne tells Sabian to go take a walk, leaving Kip to leave in frustration.

Hologram in singles action

Hologram vs. Jay Lethal

• Hologram and Lethal put on a great show here, but in the end it’s Hologram who does just enough to come out on top. Hologram won after countering a Lethal Injection attempt, picking up Lethal and spinning him around for a bit before dropping him for the win.

Winner – Hologram

After the match, the lights go out, and Hologram’s code begins appearing on the screen. Things go wrong, though, and his data is corrupted, with a “clone” being activated. An evil version of Hologram is then shown in a mysterious flash.

Grade: B+

A really awesome match and a funny post-match angle with whatever Hologram’s “clone” is going to be.

A video package plays detailing the issues between The Hurt Syndicate and Ricochet and The Gates of Agony. In it, Ricochet delivers a message to The Hurt Syndicate, saying he doesn’t forgive or forget.

Alex Windsor vs. Ashley Vox

• This one is over pretty quick, with Windsor absolutely dominating Vox, hitting her with a sit down powerbomb and then forcing her to tap out with a sharpshooter.

Winner – Alex Windsor

Following the match, Windsor is interviewed by Tony Schiavone in the ring, and asked about Mercedes Moné’s comments on Dynamite. Windsor says that Moné is a pissed off woman, and just mad because Windsor forced her to tap and could do it again if she wants.

Windsor said she respects Moné, but says she should put her money where her mouth is and face her for the TBS Championship in Philadelphia.

Grade: C+

It was a fun match with Windsor dominating, but really not a whole lot of anything here outside of the Moné rivalry growing.

Backstage, Lexy Nair is talking to Don Callis and Mark Briscoe. Briscoe is mad he still hasn’t heard back from Kyle Fletcher after he challenged him for the TNT Championship. Callis said that Fletcher has been busy and frankly, Briscoe is just one of many superstars who want a title shot.

Instead of a match against Fletcher, Callis said that he’ll pick one of the many members of The Don Callis Family and have them face off against Briscoe. Briscoe asked if he wins, can he have a title shot. Callis laughed at the idea, but then said yes.

FTR Compete in Tag Team Action

FTR vs. Adam Priest & JD Drake

• FTR take home the win here in a surprisingly competitive bout. This one ends after Dax Harwood sends Priest right into the ring post, then locks him into a nasty submission stretch, forcing Priest to tap out.

Winner – FTR

After the match, FTR is still in the ring. Wheeler takes the mic and yells for Adam Copeland. He says that FTR should be three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions now, and this isn’t about him. He says Copeland, though, always wants to make it about him.

Harwood picks up the mic after Cash talks about FTR’s legacy, and says that Copeland and Christian Cage ruined what could have been a dream match. Now, he says, at AEW All Out it will just be an exhibition match, where FTR ends the careers of two guys who made their names years ago.

Grade: B-

This one was competitive enough, but didn’t ever really seem like FTR wasn’t going to win.

Big Bill Gets His Match Against Juice Robinson

Big Bill vs. Juice Robinson

• Bill and Juice went all out here, and put on a hell of a show for two large-sized dudes. In the end, though, Bill was able to come out on top. The match ended with Robinson going to the top rope for a splash, but Bryan Keith distracting him. As Robinson dealt with Keith, Bill grabbed Juice and hit a massive slam for the win.

Winner – Big Bill

Grade: B+

This was a fun one! Both guys went absolutely all out, and the match took us all over the place before finishing.

We cut to a segment from earlier today with Sky Flight, talking about how they beat up The Don Callis Family in London. Everyone seems to be happy except Top Flight, who wants to be taken more seriously than they are.

A vignette plays of Gabe Kidd talking to Darby Allin. He says he wants to face Allin in a match, and would do so without rules or referees.

A Trios Match for the Main Event

All-Star Trios Match: “Timeless” Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa & Queen Aminata vs. Billie Starkz and Triangle of Madness (Skye Blue & Julia Hart)

• The AEW Women’s World Champion and her team picked up the win here in an absolutely chaotic match. Things ended after Aminata and Storm were taken out by Blue and Starkz, allowing Shirakawa to hit a big slam on Starkz for the pin and win.

Winner – “Timeless” Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa & Queen Aminata

After the match, Thekla comes down to the ring and goes after Aminata. Things break out into a massive brawl, with The Triangle of Madness going at Storm and Thekla hitting Storm with a spear. Hart and Blue then get involved, attacking Mina, who is also speared by Thekla.

Thekla then hits a spear on Aminata, and the Triangle of Madness have sent a message here. They stand tall in the ring to close out the show.

Grade: B+

An absolutely chaotic match here to close it out, but man this was a lot of fun. Always love a good brawl to close out a show, and this one was great.

AEW Collision Review:

This was a fun enough show picking up after a pay-per-view. Some great matches, but this seemed more promo and storyline heavy, with a lot of the segments just serving as more build-up to what’s to come. That isn’t the absolute worst, though.
