Adam Copeland, better known to longtime fans as WWE Hall of Famer Edge, wonâ€t be returning to AEW television anytime soon — and itâ€s not because of a storyline injury.
The former World Champion is currently taking a break from wrestling to film a major Hollywood action movie alongside Jason Statham. Copeland hasnâ€t been seen on AEW programming since the post-All Out episode of Dynamite back in September, where his on-screen rivalry with Christian Cage reached an emotional turning point. During that episode, Copeland told Cage that he needed to “step away to find himself,†after witnessing FTR attack Beth Phoenix in a shocking post-match angle.
That storyline exit wasnâ€t random — it was perfectly timed with Copelandâ€s packed film schedule. He first took time off to film Percy and the Olympians earlier this fall. Now, according to PWInsider, the multi-time world champion is working on another major project.
“Copeland has been spotted in London, England, due to filming on ‘The Beekeeper 2,â€â€ the outlet reported, noting that he will be working on the movie for “the majority of November.â€
The Beekeeper 2 is the sequel to Jason Stathamâ€s 2024 hit action film, where Statham plays a retired government assassin forced back into action. The new movie has already filmed sequences around Londonâ€s Canary Wharf, and production recently moved to Greenham Common — a historic military site where massive explosions and a “gigantic fireball†drew calls to local authorities, according to Newbury Today.
While Copeland is keeping busy on set, his AEW rivals are moving forward without him. Christian Cage remains active on TV, though heâ€s currently not booked for a match at Full Gear on November 22.
Copelandâ€s Hollywood commitments make it clear heâ€s juggling two careers at once — one in the ring and one on the big screen — proving that even while heâ€s away from AEW, heâ€s still making major moves.
