Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja is a left-handed batter and a left-arm orthodox spinner. He represents the Indian national team in One Day Internationals and Test matches.
Jadeja was born on 6 December 1988 in Navagam Ghed, Jamnagar district, Gujarat, into a Gujarati Hindu Rajput family. His father, Anirudh Jadeja, worked as a watchman for a private security agency and wanted him to join the Indian Army, but Jadeja’s passion was always cricket. His mother, Lata, passed away in an accident in 2005, a loss that deeply affected him and nearly made him quit cricket. His sister, Naina, works as a nurse.
In the Indian Premier League, Jadeja was bought by Chennai Super Kings for $2 million in 2012. After the franchise was suspended for two seasons, he joined the Gujarat Lions in 2016 for ₹9.5 crore. On 22 January 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 wickets in One Day Internationals, achieving the milestone by dismissing Sam Billings at Eden Gardens. He was named captain of Chennai Super Kings for the 2022 IPL season, taking over from MS Dhoni, though he later stepped down mid-season.
