TNA iMPACT Results
Tom Hannifan welcomes us to the first live edition of TNA iMPACT since the record-setting Bound For Glory. TNA World Champion Mike Santana is in the ring. Santana says itâ€s good to be back at Full Sail. Santana raises his TNA World Title high above his shoulder. The crowd starts chanting “you deserve it†at the champion. Santana puts over the TNA Wrestling for putting him in the position to challenge for the TNA World Championship. He focuses his attention to the stars waiting in the back for a shot at the title. Santana namedrops Nic Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian. He teases defending his title in other promotions.
Ryan Nemeth interrupts. He asks Santana how dare he called out his BIG BROTHER who is not here to answer Santana. Ryan says Nic is the best wrestler in the universe. Santana tells Ryan he could confront him man-to-man when heâ€s done carrying his brotherâ€s bags and chewing on his jockstrap. Nic tries to take a cheap shot but Santana catches him in his tracks. Santana doesnâ€t retaliate with a beatdown. He asks Ryan what is he doing before threatening to drop him. Santana says heâ€ll probably talk to Santino to give Ryan a title shot. The TNA World Champion leaves the ring as Ryan tries to catch his breath.
Kelani Jordan backstage interview
TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan is backstage for an interview. Gia Miller asks Kelani about her upcoming title defense against Heather By Elegance later tonight. Kelani says she wanted to face Ash because of their history but it appears she doesnâ€t have a choice. Mara Sade, Xia Brookside, and Lei Ying Lee interrupt. Kelani berates them for not winning a title. Lei Ying Lee fires back in Mandarin. Xia Brookside translates for her tag team partner. What Lei Ying Lee said, according to Xia, was, “Kelani Jordan C U Next Tuesday.â€
TNA-NXT partnership continues
TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella is on stage. Marella has a question for the crowd. He asks howâ€s everybody doing in Orlando, Florida?! Santino introduces NXT General Manager Ava as his guest. Ava thanks TNA for a warm welcome. She talks about the success of NXT x TNA Showdown. Ava says the partnerships is far from over. She asks fans to keep watching and supporting both shows. Ava says she canâ€t be on TNA every week but Arianna Grace will be representing her. Arianna Grace appears. She says she missed TNA. Santino takes the mic from his daughter. He asks the crowd to pop for NXT and TNA as the segment heads to a close.
Indi Hartwell vs. Dani Luna
- Dani Luna won via DQ after Indi Hartwell hit her with a chair shot.
Winner: Dani Luna vis DQ
Backstage, Indi Hartwell challenges Dani Luna to a No Disqualification match at TNA Turning Point. Dani caused the DQ ending in their first meeting. Tonight, it was Hartwell with the chair in her hand.
Grade: B-
This was far better from their pre-BFG match. Indi snapping and causing a DQ ending is the right way to continue the feud. What this writer found hilarious was Indi failing to grab Luna by her hair while Luna was outside the ring.
The Cleanse is coming…
Eric Young is outside distributing flyers for the so-called cleanse. Young keeps telling the fans the cleanse is coming. He claims heâ€s telling the truth. This is quite an interesting storyline and the write is intrigued to see the payoff on TNA iMPACT.
We hear from The System
Alisha Edwards drops her catchphrase. Eddie Edwards puts over her wife for her resilience against Order 4 at TNA Bound For Glory. Edwards says BFG was special because their daughter got watch her mom and dead fight side-by-side against Order 4. Moose takes the mic. He praises Alisha for being hardcore. Moose says The System is more than a team. Theyâ€re family. The big man reiterates the groupâ€s slogan. Dirty Dango grabs the mic. He gets emotional talking about his wedding two months ago. JD announces heâ€ll be retiring after TNA Genesis. He says Full Sail is the right place to announce his retirement because heâ€s got so many memories in this building. Dango says thereâ€s going to be a void in The System after he leaves but heâ€ll help them figure this out.
The Rascalz show up. Myron Reed questions JDCâ€s decision to retire. Trey Miguel proposes a multi-man contest between the two teams. Moose says this sounds like a good idea but The Rascalz are only three against four members of The System. Zachary Wentz says he happens to know a kid who lives on the westside block in Orlando — setting up Wes Leeâ€s return to TNA iMPACT. Wentz says itâ€ll be four members The Rascalz versus four members of The System tomorrow night on Turning Point.
Order 4 confronts The Hardys
Mustafa Ali and the rest of Order arrive in the building for Jason Hotchâ€s match against Cedric Alexander. Ali says if Hotch picks up the win tonight he and Skyler will get a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship. We see The Hardys posing for a photoshoot. Ali tells Matt and Jeff they are looking at the next TNA World Tag Team Champions. Tasha Steelz suggests The Hardys to sit at ringside for Hotchâ€s match against Cedric. The segment ends with a staring contest between The Hardys and Agent Zero.
BDE backstage interview
We see the replay of AJ Francis putting YouTuber-turned-wrestler BDE through a table earlier tonight. Gia Miller tells BDE backstage that his TNA singles debut is official against Francis tomorrow at TNA Turning Point. TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater appears to check on BDE. Rich Swann interrupts, setting up an X Division Title match against Slater at Turning Point.
Cedric Alexander vs. Jason Hotch
- The finish of the match saw Alexander reverse Hotchâ€s momentum for a Lumbar Check for the win.
Winner: Cedric Alexander
After the match, Ali orders Order 4 to gang up on Alexander. The Hardys interrupt to make the save. Matt and Jeff send Agent Zero out of the ring with a double clothesline. Ali tries to ruin the momentum but gets hit with a Twist of Fate. Jeff climbs the tope rope for a Swanton Bomb but Order 4 grabs Mustafa Ali and take him out. Th segment ends with The Hardys and Cedric Alexander standing tall inside the ring.
Grade: B-
Cedricâ€s Lumbar Check didnâ€t land completely but the reversal into the finisher was still cool to watch. This writer will always appreciate the TNA crowd for giving the biggest pop of the night to The Hardys week in and out. Matt and Jeff are arguably the greatest tag team of all time. Letâ€s see if tonightâ€s confrontation leads to a multi-man match at Turning Point.
Kelani Jordan (c) vs. Heather By Elegance – TNA Knockouts World Championship
- The finish of the match saw Kelani Jordan plant Heather By Elegance with a split-legged moonsault for the win.
Winner: Kelani Jordan
Grade: C+
A couple of miscommunication issues here and there. These two worked a fast-paced match despite their height difference which came off as a bit of inconvenience. Heather didnâ€t land the full DDT. M clearly didnâ€t hit Heather who still sold it. Botchamania better be watching.
Who wants to walk with Elijah!!!
Elijah is in the ring for his musical performance. That guitar riff sounds awesome. Elijah has got one question for the crowd: Who wants to walk with Elijah. The crowd starts chanting his catchphrase. He turns the chant into another riff. Elijah talks about smashing Nic Nemethâ€s head with a guitar at TNA Bound For Glory. He talks about his injury. Elijah says tomorrow is never promised. He invites the TNA iMPACT crowd for a listen along as he gets ready to express his thoughts with a song.
Mustafa Ali interrupts because the song is clearly a jab at Order 4â€s so-called presidential slogan. Ali challenges The Hardys and Cedric Alexander for a match tomorrow night at Turning Point. Elijah tells Ali to shut up and challenges him to a match right now. Ali takes a cheap shot by hitting Elijah with the mic. He caps off the attack with a guitar shot to the injured triceps before yelling his slogan.
TNA Turning Point Card
- BDE vs. AJ Francis
- Indi Hartwell vs. Dani Luna – No DQ
- The System vs. The Rascalz
- The Hardys & Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali and The Great Hands
- Leon Slater (c) vs. Rich Swann – TNA X Division Championship
- The IInspiration (c) vs. Victoria Crawford & Tessa Blanchard vs. Angel Warriors – TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship
- Kelani Jordan (c) vs. M By Elegance – TNA Knockouts World Championship
- Mike Santana & Steve Maclin vs. The Nemeths
Mike Santana (c) vs. Ryan Nemeth – TNA World Championship
As Santana is about to deliver the final blow, heâ€s interrupted by Nic Nemethâ€s music. We see Nic walking backstage only to get attacked by a mystery person. As the suspense grows, NXT wrestlers enter the ring and jump Santana from behind. Brooks Jensen, Charlie Dempsey, Lexis King, Channing Stacks, and High Ryze are all inside the ring led by none other than Robert Stone. Charlie has the TNA World Champion in a lock. Brooks Jensen grabs a chair and traps Santanaâ€s hand inside it for Robert Stone to deliver the blow.
New TNA World Champion!!!
The NXT wrestlers exit the ring. Santana is still favoring his arm damaged by the assault. But wait, a familiar music hits. Itâ€s Frankie Kazarian and heâ€s invoking his title match clause via the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy. The referee has no choice but to signal for the bell. Santana is still struggling with his arm. Kaz catches Satana with a Fade to Black. One, two… no. Santana kicks out. Kaz goes for another FTB but Santana counters with a couple of lefts and rights. He catches Kaz with a big boot and goes for the Spin the Block but the injured arm gives in. Santana uses the opportunity to catch Santana off guard with a pin. One, two, three… We got ourselves a new TNA World Champion! The crowd is stunned. Santana is shocked. We see the now-former TNA World Champion argue with the referee as TNA ends with a shot of Kaz celebrating the biggest win of his career.
Overall Grade: A-
The main event just took things up a notch. What a way to kick off three days of live TNA broadcast in Orlando! Nobody expected Mike Santana to drop the title this quickly. The NXT invasion, led by Robert Stone of all people, caught this writer off guard. I have a feeling Ava is behind all of this. Also, Kaz and Nemeth are co-holders of the trophy but Kaz executed the contract all by himself. That leaves the window open for Nic to reclaim his shot. So many questions left unanswered on this weekâ€s episode of TNA iMPACT.
