Phil Brooks, aka CM Punk, is an American professional wrestler who is currently signed with the WWE. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on 26 October 1978. He started his professional wrestling career in 2005, when he joined Ohio Valley Wrestling and introduced his “Straight Edge” character. He made his debut in ECW in 2006 and quickly became one of their biggest stars, winning the ECW Championship in September 2007.

Punk became the only WWE superstar to win the Money in the Bank contract two years in a row (2008 and 2009). He also successfully cashed in the contract both times, becoming the World Heavyweight Champion twice. In 2011, one of the most famous moments in the WWE took place, where Punk delivered his “Pipe Bomb”. During this promo, he broke the fourth wall, addressing his real issues with the WWE management. In 2014, Punk became frustrated with his creative direction and decided to walk out of the WWE.

After being away from professional wrestling for almost a decade, CM Punk made his return to the AEW in 2021. His run in the AEW lasted for 2 years, and he shocked everyone when he returned to the WWE at Survivor Series 2023. As of 2025, CM Punk wrestles as a Raw superstar and is also the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
