Jordan Mailata Says It’s ‘Bullcrap’ to Credit Tush Push for Eagles’ Win vs. Chiefs

Jordan Mailata shut down the narrative that the Philadelphia Eagles won their Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs because of the tush push.

The offensive tackle called it “disrespectful to our defense and special teams” and said the idea that the game came down to the tush push is “bullcrap.”

“That pisses me off because we give so much to this game and to kind of base off a short-yardage play, that is a football play,” Mailata said in an interview with 94 WIP in Philadelphia on Tuesday (h/t ESPN). “And say that we won the game off that, but not how our defense played and not how our special teams have played, putting us in those positions. You know I think it’s bullcrap.

“I just think it’s rubbish. Absolute rubbish, man. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it.”

The Eagles picked up four first downs and a touchdown via the tush push in the win over the Chiefs. The play certainly helped Philadelphia out in short yardage situations, but it was from the only reason it won.

The Eagles held quarterback Patrick Mahomes to just 187 passing yards and a touchdown and limited the Chiefs to just 121 rushing yards. Philadelphia’s defense made the play of the game, intercepting a pass from Mahomes that tight end Travis Kelce bobbled in the end zone.

In May, NFL owners voted to reject a proposal to ban the tush push. The proposal needed 24 votes to pass, but came two short.
