Rob Van Dam Wants To See John Cena And The Rock ‘Go At It’

Rob Van Dam would like to see John Cena square off against The Rock one last time.

Former Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena is nearing the end of his retirement tour. The “Never-Seen Seventeen” competed on SmackDown for the final time last Friday, delivering a clinic against Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.

As part of his farewell run, Cena has faced several top names — from legendary rivals Randy Orton and CM Punk to megastars Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul. However, he hasn’t revisited his iconic feud with The Rock, and the chances of them locking horns again appear slim given The Rock’s Hollywood commitments and the limited dates left on Cena’s WWE schedule.

Still, many fans are hoping for one more clash between John Cena and The Rock. Pro wrestling icon Rob Van Dam counts himself among them, recently revealing that he’d love to see two of sports entertainment’s biggest icons go at it again.

During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, RVD first shared his excitement for Brock Lesnar’s upcoming showdown against Cena at WWE WrestlePalooza before adding that he’d also like to see Cena battle The Rock:

“… I would like to see him (Brock Lesnar) and Cena go at it, and then I’d like to see Cena and The Rock go at it,” RVD said.

Brock Lesnar attacked John Cena on WWE SmackDown

John Cena’s SmackDown farewell didn’t go exactly as planned. After coming extremely close to capturing the United States Championship, Cena and Sami Zayn were blindsided by Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar stormed the ring in the closing moments of the match, planting both men with an F5 and causing the contest to end abruptly. After leaving destruction in his wake, The Beast walked to Gorilla Position and challenged Cena to a match at WrestlePalooza.

Lesnar had already made his shocking return at SummerSlam, where he took out Cena with an F5 following The GOAT’s loss to Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Title.
